Susan Dudley Gold is the author of more than 60 nonfiction books for children and teens. She has worked as a newspaper reporter, a graphic designer, and an editor for statewide publications. She and her husband, John Gold, own and operate a web design and graphic arts business, which has published a wide range of titles, including reference books, histories, and volumes of poetry.
Susan has received numerous awards for her writing and design work.
After being diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis in 1992, Susan founded a chronic pain support group, which she led for fifteen years. In 2001 she received a Jefferson Award for community service in recognition of her work with the support group.
After serving for several years as executive director of Vet to Vet Maine, which oversees the Vet to Vet program, she retired and currently volunteers with local organizations and devotes time advocating for patients, including giving presentations to students at University of New England’s medical college.
